Couple faces felony drug charges after bust

A late-night drug bust by local law-enforcement agencies yielded a methamphetamine lab near the Lebanon High School.

James T. Payne and Misty Dawn Payne, both 27 and of Lebanon, have been charged with two counts each of a Class C felony of possession of a controlled substance.

Misty Payne is being held in the Laclede County Jail in lieu of a $25,000 cash-or-surety bond. James Payne is out of jail on a $25,000 cash-or-surety bond, according to online court records.

Leona I. Wilson

Leona I. Wilson, 75, of Lebanon, died Thursday morning, March 29, 2012, in her home in Lebanon.

She was born May 23, 1936, in Linn Creek, Mo. to Ned R. and Lucretia E. McCracken Burch.

On Aug. 18, 1958 she married Wilburn Edward “Duggar’’ Wilson, who preceded her in death on Dec. 28, 2009.

She also was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Georgia Denice Wilson Dennison; a son, Dennis Wilson; a granddaughter, Amanda Alexander, and a sister, Barbara Holldorf.

She was a devoted homemaker and a loving mother throughout the years.

Lila Sue Renken

Lila Sue Renken, 74, of Battlefield, died Wednesday, March 28, 2012, in Springfield.

She was born Oct. 28, 1937, in Hume, Mo., to Kenneth E. and Minnie McKibbin Spratt.

On Aug. 21, 1955 she married Don Renken, who preceded in death on March 21, 2010. She also was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, James Robert Spratt.

The question of just exactly how much it will cost to extend the runway at the Floyd W. Jones Memorial Airport came closer to being answered Thursday.

Lebanon City Administrator Chris Heard released new information during the second scheduled public hearing to discuss the extension of the runway. According to the Missouri Department of Transportation, today’s construction costs are actually lower, possibly as much as $500,000 lower, than those that were projected in the city’s master plan in 2003.

After the Lebanon City Council finalizes the Fiscal Year 2013 budget, the public will be able to see what City Administrator Chris Heard considers an easier-to-read document.

Gone are many of the transfers, which some said were confusing, as many funds have been combined.

Lila Ann McLaughlin, 48, of Sleeper, died Monday, March 26, 2012, in Springfield.

She was born July 11, 1963, in St. Louis, Mo. to Willard Frank and Sherlene Ann Maple Hubbell, who preceded her in death.

She was a homemaker and a member of First United Methodist Church.

Survivors include a brother, Bradley Hubbell and his wife, Johnanna, of Lebanon; two aunts, Joan Frank and Jackie Maple; a special friend, Jim DeVore, also of Sleeper, also many cousins and her church family.

Threatening dad faces charge Man behind Tuesday's lockdown of 4 Lebanon elementary schools is jailed on $10K bond

A man accused of threatening to kill his family allegedly says he did it because he and his wife are separating and he lost his temper.

Christopher Lee Green, 35, of Conway, has been charged with a Class A misdemeanor of harassment. Green is being held in the Laclede County Jail in lieu of a $10,000 cash-or-surety bond, according to online court records.

Lucille D. Jones

Lucille D. Jones, 88, of Wentzville, formerly of Phillipsburg, died Thursday morning, March 29, 2012, in the Garden View Nursing Home in O’Fallon.

She is survived by a number of nieces and nephews.

Arrangements for Lucille D. Jones are incomplete at this time and will be announced by Holman-Howe Funeral Home of Lebanon.
