Lila Sue Renken

Lila Sue Renken, 74, of Battlefield, Mo., died Wednesday, March 28, 2012, in Springfield.

She was born Oct. 28, 1937, in Hume, Mo., to Kenneth E. and Minnie McKibbin Spratt. She married on Aug. 21, 1955.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Don Renken, on March 21, 2010. She also was preceded in death by a brother, James Robert Spratt.

White will face trial in September Woman stands accused of burning her baby to death in 2007

An Iberia woman who is accused of burning her baby to death in 2007 will face a Laclede County jury in September.

Christina White, 28, faces a charge of first-degree arson, three counts of endangering the welfare of a child in the first degree and one count of first-degree murder.

Her trial was scheduled Tuesday in Laclede County Circuit Court. A suppression and motion hearing is scheduled for May 31, a pre-trial conference is set for Sept. 6, and the trial is scheduled to begin Sept. 17.

Ok Hui Yang

Ok Hui Yang, 83, of St. Robert, died Saturday, March 24, 2012, at her home in St. Robert.

She is survived by three children, Sun C. Mitchell and Bill, of St. Robert; Mun C. Yang and Sung Ho Yang; a brother, a sister, six grandchildren, four great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives.

Memorial services for Ok Hui Yang will be held at 3 p.m. Friday, March 30, 2012 in the Memorial Chapels and Crematory of Waynesville/St. Robert.

Visitation will be from 2 p.m. until time of service Friday in the funeral home.

Man charged with felony after morning raid by law enforcement

A joint effort by area law enforcement has a Lebanon man in jail facing a drug charge.

Steven William Alvidrez, 30, is charged with a Class C felony of possession of a controlled substance, according to the probable cause statement released by the Laclede County Prosecuting Attorney’s office.

Alvidrez is being held in the Laclede County Jail. His bond and initial court date have not been set, according to online court records.

Despite filing, Pollock won’t run for state Senate

Rep. Darrell Pollock, R-Lebanon, won’t be pursuing the 33rd District seat in the Missouri Senate, he said Wednesday.

Pollock had filed for the seat at the end of February when the district maps were still undecided. If the final map had put Laclede County back in the 33rd District next year, he would have made a Senate run, he said.

“It was really just to be on there in case that thing changed. ...You wanted to be on the ballot pending what the outcome might be,” he said. “And the outcome is we have a new Senate district.

Conway Special Road District voters will see tax renewal issue on ballot

Next week, voters will be asked to continue a levy that makes the work of the Conway Special Road District No. 2 possible.

Residents of the Conway Special Road District No. 2 are being asked to continue a decades old property tax levy that funds the district. The levy is an additional 35 cents per $100 of assessed property value. District voters will get a chance to vote on the levy again in four years.

Kenneth E. Monson

Kenneth E. Monson, 87, of Lebanon, formerly of Independence, died Tuesday, March 27, 2012, at Christian Health Care North in Lebanon.

He was born April 12, 1924, in Shenandoah, Iowa to John Willis “J.W.’’ and Nora Loney Monson.

In 1945 he married Mary Waldron, who preceded him in death on March 29, 1994. He also was preceded in death by his parents.

Throughout his life he worked as a truck driver and retired from the Kaw Oil Company. He had made his home in Shenandoah, Iowa, and then in Independence for a number of years.

LaVonne Louise Blanton

LaVonne Louise Blanton, 78, of Lebanon, died Friday afternoon, March 9, 2012, at Riverview Manor Nursing Home in Pleasant Valley, Iowa.

She was born May 27, 1933, in Des Moines, Iowa, to Lorenzo “Bill” and Rhea Louise Collins Casner, who preceded her in death. She also was preceded in death by a brother, Leroy Casner.

On Dec. 10, 1983, she married George Leon Blanton.

In addition to being a devoted homemaker for her husband and family, she worked as a waitress for a number of years and had also served as a caregiver.

John Paul Rainbolt

John Paul Rainbolt, of St. Robert, died Sunday, March 25, 2012, at the Phelps County Regional Medical Center.

He is survived by his wife, Kyong, of the home; a daughter, Paula Sullivan, of Florida; two brothers, Robert Rainbolt and Doris, of Fairview Heights, Ill. and Harry Rainbolt and Rosella, of Manhattan, Kan.; two grandchildren, Rodney Sullivan and Janet, of Clermont, Fla. and Travis Sullivan and Katie, of Chelmsford, Mass.; also several nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
