Ruby Geneva Benton

Ruby Geneva Benton, 97, of Iberia, died Tuesday, March 27, 2012, in the Sunset Village of the Ozarks of St. Robert.

She is survived by three children, Steven Benton, of Iberia; Sondra Wahlman, of Springfield, and Wanda Benedict, of Columbia; nine grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren, and other relatives.

Funeral services for Ruby Geneva Benton will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, March 29, 2012, in the Memorial Chapels and Crematory of Waynesville/St. Robert.

Burial will be in the Waynesville Memorial Park Cemetery.

Crabtree, Mustard seeking council seat in Ward 2

The Lebanon Daily Record recently asked Lebanon City Council and mayor candidates to complete a questionnaire in order to provide information to the voters.

Today’s responses are from candidates for Ward 2, Cleo Crabtree and Sam Mustard.

Voters will head to the polls on April 3 to decide the winner of the two-year term.

Kenneth E. Monson

Kenneth E. Monson, 87, of Lebanon, died Tuesday afternoon, March 27, 2012, at Christian Health Care North in Lebanon.

He is survived by a brother, Farris D. Monson and his wife, Margaret, of Lebanon, also several nephews.

Arrangements for Kenneth E. Monson are incomplete at this time and will be announced by Holman-Howe Funeral Home of Lebanon.

August primary filings come to a close

Filings ended Tuesday for the August primary election for county and state offices, and the local race for sheriff has produced the most interest with a total of nine candidates filing.

On the Republican ticket, candidates include incumbent Sheriff Richard Wrinkle, who will face Andy Cruz, Billy Rawlings, Don Hall, Mike Noyes and Johnny Brackett. Wayne Merritt, John A. Young and former Sheriff Robert “Bob” Dotson have filed from the Democrat Party.

Lila Ann McLaughlin

Lila Ann McLaughlin, 48, of Sleeper, died Monday, March 26, 2012, in Springfield.

She was born July 11, 1963, in St. Louis, Mo. to Willard Frank and Sherlene Ann Maple Hubbell, who preceded her in death.

She was a homemaker and a member of First United Methodist Church.

Survivors include a brother, Bradley Hubbell and his wife, Johnanna, of Lebanon; two aunts, Joan Frank and Jackie Maple; a special friend, Jim DeVore, also of Sleeper, also many cousins and her church family.

William Wheeler Swenson

William Wheeler Swenson, 73, of Marshfield, died Tuesday, March 27, 2012, at his home.

He is survived by his wife, Wanda, of the home.

Arrangements for William Wheeler Swenson are incomplete at this time and will be announced by Day Funeral Home of Marshfield.

Distraught dad causes lockdown Man allegedly threatened to kill his wife, children; 4 Lebanon schools put on alert

A Lebanon man who allegedly threatened to kill his wife and children and had four Lebanon schools on alert is now behind bars.

At about 8:16 a.m. Tuesday, the Lebanon Police Department received a report that a 35-year-old man had allegedly been calling his wife since midnight, threatening to put her and their four young children “in the ground.” The woman had gone to the Laclede County Sheriff’s Office to file for an ex-parte protection order against the man, but it hadn’t been served yet, according to an LPD report.

Randy Rowe will lead county OEM

Randy Rowe brought an extensive background in law enforcement, experience in crisis preparation and management and a willingness to learn to work this morning.

After being hired Tuesday, Rowe is on his first day on the job as director of the Laclede County Office of Emergency Management.

His first day coincides with the last full day on the job for outgoing OEM Director Jonathan Ayres, who announced earlier this month he is taking a position in Greene County. Ayres has agreed to serve as a consultant during the transition.

Faye McElroy

Faye McElroy, 72, of Falcon, formerly of Broken Arrow, Okla., died Monday morning, March 26, 2012, in Mercy Hospital-Lebanon.

She was born April 4, 1939, near Falcon, Mo. to Leonard and Gladys Hamilton McElroy, who preceded her in death.

She also was preceded in death by an infant sister, Mildred Ruth McElroy.
