City adds payment options Credit and debit cards, direct payments kick off this week

From LDR Staff

This week it might become a little more convenient for city utilities customers to settle their bills with the city.

Beginning today, the city of Lebanon will be accepting debit and credit cards for the payment of utility bills.

“We told (City Council) that we would have this convenience for our customers by the end of March, so we’re just meeting that deadline,” Lebanon City Clerk Laina Starnes said Friday.

The city will only accept Visa or MasterCard, and customers will be required to show a government-issued identification when paying with a debit or credit card.

Starnes clarified that both debit and credit cards will be run as credit cards because the city does not have the keypads needed to enter PIN numbers; however, debit cards can still be used.
