Dale Garrett Hite

Dale Garrett Hite, 71, of Strafford, formerly of Lebanon, died Sunday, Feb. 21, 2016, at his home.

He was born Jan. 12, 1945, in Los Angeles, Calif. to Clarence and Velma Hite.

Dale grew up in Lebanon and attended Lebanon High School, then went on to graduate from Southwest Missouri State College.

He served in the U.S. Navy from 1962-1966 and was a Vietnam Veteran. In his spare time he enjoyed restoring classic cars and riding his beloved motorcycles.

Survivors include his two children, McKenzie (Andrew) Francis and Neile (Eric) Smith; grandchildren, Madeline and Owen; brothers, Dr. Dennis (Deanna) Hite and Michael (Jo Lyn) Hite, also five nieces and nephews.

Graveside services for Dale Garrett Hite will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Feb. 29, 2016, at the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Springfield, under the direction of Herman Lohmeyer Funeral Home in Springfield.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Fisher House Foundation.
