Three and a half months ago, a group of Lebanon area actors got together.
This Friday and Saturday, the Route 66 Community Theatre is already presenting its first play at the Cowan Civic Center.
Jodi Roberts is directing the play, which the group hopes will be the first of many.
“We are hoping to have two main performances a year and keep this thing rolling and growing,” she said. “My intention was to get it started and do the play.”
She acknowledged that they wasted little time in putting on their first production.
“Part of the reason we’re doing the play is to get the word out more,” Roberts said. “We decided to do a production to get started and get people aware that we’re doing this. There will be more development of the Route 66 Community Theatre after the play’s over because we’re kind of busy right now.”
