Members of Lebanon’s youth swim club filled the City Hall chambers Monday night and asked the city council to help them regain use of Lebanon’s YMCA swimming facilities in the Cowan Civic Center.
Dan Mizell, a local attorney, acted as spokesman or the group, which he said had formerly leased the swimming pool from the local YMCA. Mizell said they have been unable to come to an agreement to continue using the facility.
“Unfortunately, we’ve hit a bit of an impasse with regard to the YMCA,” he said. “We’re asking for your help.”
Mizell said the club thought it had resolved its issues with the YMCA, but is now unable to come to an agreement  with them for daily use of the indoor pool.
“The children who are here tonight are what the dispute is about. We asked them to be here to give a face to our organization,” Mizell said. “These kids are great swimmers and were recently crowned tri-state champions and instead of being rewarded for that accomplishment, they’ve been essentially excluded from the only indoor pool available for them to swim in.”
