Route 66 bridge to be evaluated

The National Park Service has awarded the Route 66 Gasconade River Bridge Guardians a grant for an engineering study.
The NPS grant, announced Wednesday, will assist with an engineering report to document the condition of the bridge and develop options and cost estimates to restore the structure for possible  pedestrian, bike and/or automobile-related use.
Judy Wallmark, secretary-treasurer of the Guardians, said the $6,000 grant, combined with about $7,000 they have raised on social media, will allow their plans for the bridge to move forward.
