Fred S. Springer, 88, of Lebanon, died Wednesday, May 8, 2019, in Mercy Hospital in Springfield.
He was born in Chicago, Ill. to Fred and Louise Springer.
Fred was preceded in death by his first wife, Mary Ellen.
He graduated from Lebanon High School in the Class of 1949. He enlisted with the United States Air Force and served in the Korean War with the 5th Air Force 452nd Bomb Wing. After the Korean War, Fred began a long career with the Federal Aviation Administration. He initially worked as an air traffic controller and later in administration at FAA headquarters in Washington, D.C.
He is survived by his wife Norma Lee and his son, Peter, both of Lebanon.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, May 26, 2019, at the First Congregational Church of Lebanon.
In lieu of flowers, donations are suggested to the Lebanon Hughes Senior Center meal program, 460 W. 5th Street, in memory of Fred Springer.
