Breeden and Smith take fourth at Bassmaster event

CORNELIUS, N.C.— Drury's Cole Breeden and Cameron Smith finished fourth out of 256 teams at the Carhartt Bassmaster College Series tournament at Lake Norman in Cornelius, North Carolina last weekend.

For the event, Breeden, a freshman from Lebanon, and Smith, an Ozark native in his sophomore season, caught their limit of five in each of the three days and turned in a total of 33 pounds, 4 ounces for the tournament. Their finish qualifies them for the Bassmaster College Championship Series next fall.

William Nichols and Jamon Phillips from Jacksonville State won the event catching landing 37 pounds, 15 ounces. Jacob Louis and Nathan Doty from McKendree finished second while Benjamin Hager and Noah Shaver out of North Carolina-Charlotte came in third.

Drury’s Dalton Combs and Xavier Tiberghien finished 71st with 14 pounds, 4 ounces.
