Conway sends three runners to State

The Conway High School cross country team will be busy on Saturday morning after sending three runners to the MSHSAA Class 2 cross country State Championships in Columbia at Gans Creek.

Qualifying for State for the Bears are Trey Earls, Andrew Dame and Gracie Vestal. Earls qualified with a time of 17:51, good for 7th place overall at their district meet. Dame finished closely behind him in 9th place with a time of 18:11 overall. On the girls’ side, Vestal placed 15th overall with a time of 23:25.
As a team, the boys’ finished 4th overall while the girls’ placed fifth, respectively.

“Trey and Andrew have been working together and helping each other improve their times over the season,” head coach Andrew Lowery said. “They have been running their best here at the end of the season, and hope they can run a PR on the State course this year.

“Gracie has been working hard and has made a lot of improvement over the last few weeks and has figured out how to race now. She is running very well here at the end of the season as well.”
