Lebanon girls’ tennis team falls to Glendale and Kickapoo

The Lebanon girls’ tennis team dropped two matches this week to the Kickapoo Chiefs on Wednesday night and the Glendale Falcons on Thursday.

In the Kickapoo match, Lebanon fell 9-0, but had strong performances according to head coach Ron Crowell.

“We played hard and I was proud of their effort despite the loss,” he siad. “Kickapoo was very good and I thought our girls went out there and competed well.”

Against Glendale, Lebanon handled themselves well, falling 5-4.

“We played some outstanding tennis (on Thursday) and I was very proud of the effort despite the loss,” Crowell said.

The match of the day came at the No. 1 singles spot with senior Zephanie White trailing 1-6 in her match, but fought back to prevail over Chandler Robbins, 9-7.

“Zephanie played some  of her best tennis of the season and came from behind after being down 1-6 to win 9-7,” Crowell said. “It is great when you have players who don’t give up no matter the score and fight until the end like she did (on Thursday).”

Lebanon also got a win from senior Skyler Maynor at No. 3 singles as she defeated Madeline Vann, 8-6 in a close match.

In doubles play, White and Addi Myler got a victory at No. 1 doubles, 8-6 and Olivia Pruitt and Emma Miller secured a win at No. 3 doubles, 8-5.

Lebanon will travel to Willow Springs on Wednesday.
