LHS volleyball teams find success over weekend

SPRINGFIELD — The Lebanon High School Junior Varsity and Freshmen volleyball teams both competed at the Hillcrest tournament this past weekend with both teams finding a few victories in Springfield.

The freshmen team, coached by Lesley Hough, finished the tournament on Saturday winning the third-place match over Camdenton in three sets, 25-15, 18-25, 17-15.

Lebanon started the day off with a two-set win over Hillcrest (25-12, 25-12) before splitting a match with the Lakers (13-25, 25-19).

Later in the day, the ‘Jackets would face two more Ozark Conference foes, splitting with the Waynesville Tigers (13-25, 25-21) and defeating the Central Bulldogs in two-sets (25-11, 25-16).

The freshmen team improves to 7-1-2 on the season after the tournament.

Below are the stats from the freshmen team on Saturday:

Aces: Kylie Paul — 9, Addy Chastain — 8.
Kills: Myah Hough — 21, Destiny Zimdars, Addy Chastain — 16.
Assists: Maddie Carr — 54.
Blocks: Destiny Zimdars, Riley Bartel — 1
Digs: Myah Hough — 38, Maddie Carr — 25, Hannah Allen — 20.

The Junior Varsity team, under head coach first-year coach Madison Day, won the consolation championship over the Central Bulldogs in their tournament, 25-16, 25-7.

In their first few matches of the day in pool play, Lebanon defeated the Bulldogs, 25-23, 25-13.

Later in the day would split with the Camdenton Lakers (25-23, 20-25), and fell to the Ozark Tigers in two-sets, 17-25, 22-25.

In their first match of the silver bracket, the ‘Jackets were awarded a win after the Waynesville Tigers forfeited the game, allowing Lebanon to move to the championship match of the bracket.

Assists: Chloe Shivers — 42.
Digs: — Jocee Pettyjohn — 44.

The volleyball team is slated to be back in action tonight (Tuesday) with a home match against Carl Junction and will travel to West Plains on Thursday for an Ozark Conference game.
