Becky Sue Short, 69, of Lebanon, died Sunday, March 10, 2024, in Lebanon.

She was born May 3, 1954, in Decatur, Illinois to William and Phyllis (Leschewski) Bender.

On Dec. 13, 1996, she was united in marriage to Alton R. Short.

She was preceded in death by her parents, William “Bill’’ and Phyllis (Leschewski) Bender, and her first husband Harold Johnson.

Becky’s early working career was spent in the offices of Bell Telephone and Associated Wholesale Grocers. She would for a time take a break from her career to be a Mom. She would later go back to her career and also attend night classes in Business where she would attain both Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Business and Supply Chain Management where she went onto serve both the Department of Defense and Boeing Aerospace Company of whom she retired in 2016.

She was a devoted member of First Baptist Church.

Becky is survived by her husband Alton; two sons, Laramey Johnson and his wife Mandy of Sweet Springs and Landen Johnson and his wife Kim of Lynchburg; three brothers, Chester Bender of Olathe, Kan., Mickey Bender of Springfield and Larry Bender and his wife Diana of Ash Grove; six grandchildren, Evan and his wife Bethany, Avery, Levi, Emma, Lane and Laik Johnson; two great-grandchildren, Silas and Milo; one brother-in-law, Wayne Short of Ardmore, Okla.; other relatives and many dear friends.

Funeral services for Becky Sue Short were held at noon Thursday, March 14, 2024, at Shadel’s Colonial Chapel with Pastors Luke Winfrey, Roger Sherrer and Jordan Rockstad officiating. A Committal Service was held at 2 p.m. also on Thursday at Fort Leonard Wood State Veterans Cemetery in Waynesville. Visitation began at 11:00 until service time, also on Thursday at Shadel’s Colonial Chapel.

Memorials have been suggested to Pregnancy Support Center in memory of Becky. Donations can be left at or mailed to Shadel’s Colonial Chapel, P.O. Box 948, Lebanon, Mo. 65536.
