Betty M. Worthy, 92, of Lebanon, died Tuesday, May 19, 2020, in Lebanon.

She was born Dec. 3, 1927, in Lebanon, Mo. to William Burks and Carrie Renner Edwards.

On Oct. 11, 1947, she married Robert Worthy.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Robert Worthy; a son in infancy, Robert Lee Worthy, who died on Sept. 24, 1948; by brothers and sisters, Cleo Bolles, Treva Evans, Essie Edwards, Lois Ewing, Charline Lippelman, Leon Edwards and Carl Edwards.

Betty graduated from Lebanon High School in 1945. She was employed as a receptionist for Dr. Hurst’s medical office for many years. She was later employed as a sales clerk at Bonnie’s Place and Knight’s Men and Women’s Wear. In later years, she volunteered and loved spending time helping at Hughes Senior Center and was a receptionist at Shadel’s Colonial Chapel.

She was a member of First Baptist Church.

Betty was a mother figure to many nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews, and a dear friend to many.

A graveside service and burial for Betty M. Worthy will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 23, 2020, at Lebanon Cemetery with Matt Taylor officiating, under the direction of Shadel’s Colonial Chapel of Lebanon. Under the guidelines of the CDC and the state of Missouri, the staff of Shadel’s Colonial Chapel ask that you observe social distancing and proper hygiene. Those guidelines will be monitored during this time to accommodate the family and their wishes.
