CHARLIE B. TURNER

Charlie B. Turner, born on Sept. 28, 1940, passed away in Springfield, Mo. at the age of 82, on Aug. 24, 2023.

Charlie served in the Army from 1962 to 1964, as a member of the 101st Airborne Division as a Paratrooper and served as Military Police. After he was honorably discharged in 1964, Charlie served the Missouri State Highway Patrol as a State Trooper for Troop B in Macon, Missouri and for Troop I in Rolla, Missouri for 31 years retiring as a Zone Commander/Master Sergeant. Charlie worked for the Division of State Parks as a Park Ranger for Bennett Spring State Park and as a supervisor for several other State Parks. He also served as an investigator for the Laclede County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office.

Charlie loved his family and enjoyed attending many ball games for his grandchildren. He was a family man that would ensure that he helped in any capacity. The one thing he said was his time, was when it was time for bow season; he could tell you how many days were left until the wake up. Charlie enjoyed being outside, deer hunting, and being in his favorite hunting spot that he called his Promise Land.

He is survived by his wife of the home Joy Turner; two daughters Lori Luthy and husband Jody of Springfield, and Maggie Moore and husband Jimmy of Houston, Mo.; four grandchildren Josef Luthy and fiance Lauren Brown of Republic; Charlee Sue Jadwin of Salem; Lanie Luthy of Springfield, and Nate Jadwin of Houston, Mo.

A Graveside Service was held with Military Honors rendered on Monday, Aug. 28, 2023, at 11 a.m., at Hopedale Cemetery, located on Hwy NN and the Junction of J and NN.
