Commission votes to help Downtown

County will give $1,000 toward revitalization efforts

The Laclede County Commission will provide $1,000 to the Lebanon Downtown Business District’s effort to revitalize downtown.

The Commission approved the funding on a 3-0 vote at its Tuesday morning meeting.

The money will come from the county’s economic development fund and will be for a one-time contribution.  Presiding Commissioner Randy Angst said the commissioners would revisit the issue to decide whether to continue the support in coming years.

Angst said the county wanted to show support for the overall activity taking place downtown. He said the revitalization effort could result in more sales tax revenue for the county at some point.
