Districts feed students during school closures

Posted
Area school districts and local groups are trying to keep kids fed while school is out of session due to spring break and the COVID-19 pandemic. The Lebanon School District is providing free meals to go for all children under 18 while classes are out of session because of COVID-19. Meals can be picked up between 9 and 11 a.m. at the Maplecrest 2nd grade entrance and the main entrance of Lebanon High School. Any child 18 or younger may receive one free breakfast and one free lunch daily. Children must be present to receive meals. The R-3 District also will be delivering meals starting March 30 to any children ages 18 and under whose guardian signs up for the service. Children must live within the school district. To sign up, visit https://forms.gle/9FQUUnyG4AtNazMc6. The link can also be found on the Lebanon R-3 School District’s Facebook page. Life 360 Community Service will be providing free food for children at the Conway High School Cafeteria. Meals will be handed out between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. Monday, Wednesday and Friday. David Bull of Life 360 said it is open to any child up to age 18 and they do not have to attend school there. Each child will receive a week’s worth of meals plus additional meal components. They will need the child’s first and last name and age. It is curbside delivery at the cafeteria, east side of the building. Life 360 and Shepherd’s Pack are working with the Joel E. Barber C-5 School District to ensure kids get fed during the shutdown. On March 31, Life 360 and the district will hold a food pick up from 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. On April 3, the district and Shepherd’s Pack will hold a food pick up from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Staff will need the names and ages of all kids that the food is being picked up for. The service is for children ages 18 and under. Gasconade C-4 Schools announced last week that the district had identified families through a food service survey and would be delivering meals to students. Those who did not sign up for the service and would like to be considered, should call the district at 417-532-4821.
