DOROTHY LEE VEANES

Dorothy Lee Veanes of Lebanon, passed away Tuesday, October 31, 2023, in her home at the age of eighty-seven years, eleven months and twenty-eight days.

Dorothy was born November 3, 1935 in St. Louis, Missouri. She was raised in St. Louis and following her high school graduation, she was employed for many years as an office worker for Koken Manufacturing in St. Louis.

On September 25, 1953, she was united in marriage to her loving husband and best friend, Allen Eugene Veanes. Together they shared forty-nine years of wonderful memories before he passed away on October 2, 2002.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Allen; and her son, David.

She is survived by her daughter, Valarie Equinozzi of Rochester, New York; her daughter-in-law, Peggy Veanes of Lebanon; her grandchildren, Sara Equinozzi and Bryan Equinozzi, both of Rochester, New York, Matthan Veanes and his wife Caitlyn, Hannah Bowers and her husband John Paul, all of Lebanon; and two great-grandchildren, Micah Veanes and his girlfriend Olivia Saffiote, and Lesie Grim, all of Lebanon; and her caretaker, Leona Bryant.

Dorothy thoroughly enjoyed being a wife and mother to her two children. Family was always a very important part of her life and she was so proud of both of her children. In 1997, the family moved to Lebanon, Missouri to enjoy their retirement years.

Dorothy loved God with all her heart and attended Emmanuel Chapel for several years. She then joined Hillcrest Baptist Church and was active with Vacation Bible School and the Awana program.

She also was a volunteer at the Pregnancy Support Center and she enjoyed keeping up with current events by watching Fox News.

Dorothy was a wonderful Christian lady and loyal friend. She loved her family and was a big part of their lives. The family is thankful for the comfort and assurance they have knowing Dorothy is in Heaven, praising Jesus.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, Nov. 6, 2023, at Holman-Howe Funeral Home. Visitation will be Monday at 1 p.m. until service time. Burial will be in Mount Rose Memorial Park in Lebanon. A memorial to The Pregnancy Support Center has been established and donations may be left at the funeral home.
