After a long life of 98 years, the Lord called home Emmett R. Anderson. He was born July 9, 1925, in Texas County, to Merrick Anderson and Almer Felton. Emmett passed away in his home Friday, July 28, 2023.

At the age of three, he moved with his family to Roby. When he was 16, he moved to Plato.

On Nov. 11, 1944, Emmett married the love of his life and best friend, Laureda (Matthews) Anderson and together they raised their two sons, Donald (Donnie) and Lonnie. They enjoyed over 72 years of marriage before his dear wife, Laureda, passed away on April 5, 2017.

Emmett was a carpenter by trade and in 1956, Emmett joined the Carpenter’s Union. In 1960, he and Laureda moved to Lebanon. He worked hard and was fortunate enough to retire in 1980 at the age of 55. He enjoyed his retirement years by hunting turkeys with his close friend Lynn Decker. They had moved back to the farm on the Gasconade in 1977 in preparation for his retirement. He really enjoyed turkey hunting and was proud to have taught his great-grandson, Eric, how to hunt. He loved all his grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren and was overjoyed when they would come visit at the farm. Time spent was them was special and he taught them many things about hunting, fishing, and music. His family was very musical. Emmett and his wife, Laureda and son, Donnie played and sang bluegrass music together and attended festivals. They played in many churches for several years. Emmett loved the Lord Jesus Christ and was a member at Pine Creek Church where he served for many years. He lived through the depression and had many stories to share with his family about growing up during those times. Those years shaped him to be the hard worker that he was. Emmett was preceded in death by his wife, Laureda; three brothers; one sister; and his parents.

He is survived by his two sons, Donnie Anderson and his wife, Connie and Lonnie Anderson and his wife Jane, all of Lebanon; his grandchildren, Julie Allen and her husband, Keith, Jeffrey Anderson and his wife, Stacie, Lisa Cromer and her husband, Jamie, Scott Anderson and his wife, Angela; Jan Waterman and her husband, Tim, Brandy Sherrer and her husband, Chad, Brian Monnahan and his special friend, Cassandra and Michaela Bradshaw and her husband, Shawn; 10 great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews. Emmett was a loving man, as well as a patient man. He leaves behind a legacy of love and devotion to his family that can be cherished and remembered for many years to come.
