George “Doug’’ Rowden, 67, of Stoutland died Tuesday, July 25, 2023, in Stoutland.

He was born Aug. 6, 1955, in Waynesville to George and June Wells Rowden.

Doug was preceded in death by his parents.

He was born a farmer. He grew up on a farm in Crocker. Later in life, he bought a farm in Stoutland, where he lived until his passing. Doug retired from Lake of the Ozarks State Park. He had a love and niche for livestock. People would come to him if they had problems with their own livestock to get his input and advice. Doug loved his cows, chickens, goats and sheep. He wouldn’t hesitate to bring a calf, kid or lamb in the house to warm up and raise. That was his passion to take care of livestock.

He is survived by son, Eric Wright of the home; sister Sandra Kelley of Richland; niece, Tammy Kelley; nephew, Kevin Kelley; great-niece, Kelly Nykki Brigance; great-nephew, Zach Kelley; great-niece, Haleigh Kelley; great-nephew, Connor Canote; brother, Bruce Rowden of Theodosia; niece, Heather Rowden; brother Thomas (Diane) Rowden of Santa Fe, N.M.; nephew, Justin Rowden; niece, Victoria Rowden (Kamon Gregg); great-nephew, Malcolm; other relatives and friends.

Funeral services for George “Doug’’ Rowden will be held at noon Saturday, Aug. 5, 2023, at Shadel’s Colonial Chapel with Pastor Don Henson officiating. Burial will be in Crocker Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 11 a.m. until service time also on Saturday, Aug. 5, 2023, at Shadel’s Colonial Chapel. Memorials have been suggested in memory of Doug to American Cancer Society or Alzheimer’s Association. Please make check payable to American Cancer Society or Alzheimer’s Association.
