JAMES EDWARD ROSS

Posted

James Edward Ross, 52, died May 13, 2023, at his home in Lebanon, after a long battle with cancer.

James was born Sept. 24, 1970, in Columbia to Charles and Della Ross. He grew up in Lebanon, where his parents are still living.

He is survived by his wife of 24 years, Tammy (Norris) Ross, of Lebanon, and four children: Danielle Meckem and husband Phil, Amber Gantvoort and husband Clark, Christan Cook and husband Dustin, all of Lebanon; and Cody Ross and wife Lauren, Conway.

One of James’ greatest joys was being Papa to his nine grandchildren: Alayna and Ryder Meckem and Jayden Dean, Emory and Knox Gantvoort, Blake and Sawyer Cook, and Casen and Linley Ross.

He is survived by his sisters and their husbands: Pam and Ron Kerb and Linda and Gary Myers of Lebanon. He also leaves behind hundreds of friends and relatives whose lives were made better by knowing him. His close friends David and Mel Matlock were especially dear to him. Justin and Kristy Dill were also close family friends. He was deeply loved by his wife’s family, father-in-law and mother-in-law, Donald and Glenda Norris; sister-in-law, Misty Judy, and brother-in-law, Chris Norris.

Everyone who knew James can attest to his loyal, dedicated, hard work—both at his job and at home.  He worked for 28 years for Independent Stave Company and for 3 years at G3 Boats before his illness.

James loved fishing and taking care of his livestock.  He was always willing to help his friends and family however he could. And any task he undertook was done with exacting precision (except weed-eating).

Visitation will be Thursday, May 18, 2023, from 6-8 p.m. at Shadel’s Colonial Chapel.

Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Friday, May 19, 2023, also at Shadel’s Colonial Chapel.
