Lebanon parks add trees

Posted
Lebanon Parks Director John Shelton reported on the Tree City program and progress for city recreational facilities at Thursday’s Lebanon Rotary Cub luncheon. Shelton said the tree initiative was started by Rotarian Don Allen and other Rotary members about five years ago. He said Rotarians have continued to help with planting and pruning trees over the years. “I can tell you without a doubt that if Don and the club had not stepped up and started this, Lebanon would not be a Tree City today,” Shelton said. He said when he began with the parks department, the trend was to cut down trees to make more green space. For more on this story, see Saturday's LCR.
