The Lebanon Middle School 7th and 8th grade girls’ basketball teams put on a Coaches vs. Cancer tournament last week and it was a huge success.
For LMS basketball coach Rod Baxter, this tournament hits home for him.
“The tournament was started by Norm Stewart (former basketball coach at Missouri) and as a lifelong Missouri basketball coach, I started following his lead and having this tournament,” he mentioned. “I have had my own family issues with cancer by losing two brothers, a sister and a father. A surgeon also saved me ten years ago from colon cancer, so this is near and dear to my heart.
“All my teams become invested in helping with the fundraiser and 32 of my players made posters for this tournament and pink shirts to support cancer.”
