Local nature photographer wins worldwide competition

Posted

The National Wildlife Federation garnered 32,000 entries in its nature photography contest.
Winners came from such far flung cities around the world as Guangdong, China; Hawalli, Kuwait; Esher, England; and Rigsby, Idaho.
And one winner, Chet Hicks, came from Lebanon.
He won the People in Nature category with a photo of an angler at Bennett Spring State Park.
Hicks shot his winning photo in January when the snow was falling. A diehard angler was wading the stream just below the stone bridge as the snowflakes swirled, obscuring his image and creating dark reflections on the water.
