Man wanted in Texas murder investigation kills himself in Lebanon after shooting at Lebanon officers

A person of interest in a Texas murder investigation killed himself Friday night after shooting at Lebanon officers who were looking for him at a local hotel.

The Amarillo, Texas, Police Department contact the Lebanon Police Department at about 9:40 p.m. Friday with information that a 29-year-old Amarillo man, who was wanted for questioning in connection with a murder investigation, was thought to be at the Days Inn on Elm Street in Lebanon, according to the LPD.

When the police went to the hotel to contact the man, he shot at officers through his hotel room door. He then shot himself. The man was transported to Mercy Hospital Lebanon, where he was pronounced dead, the LPD reports in a release to the media sent Saturday morning.

No officers were hurt in the incident.

The LPD are not releasing the name of the suspect until it is released by the Amarillo Police Department. There are no further details on the murder investigation.
