The Lebanon R-3 Board of Education has voted to approve bids for the construction of a gymnasium at Maplecrest Elementary School at a cost of $4.5 million.
The vote came at a Board work session held Oct. 30.
The District received five bids from general contractors on the Maplecrest project. The low bid was submitted by Bales Construction Company in the amount of $4,497,500. Bales Construction has offices in Waynesville and Springfield, serving the area for over 77 years. The school district says Bales has extensive experience in constructing educational facilities. A 5 percent contingency in the amount of $204,900 will be included for unanticipated site conditions or omissions. The contingency will only be used if necessary.
