Murder charge dropped in wreck

Posted

Second-degree murder and armed criminal action charges filed after the investigation into a 2016 fatality wreck have been dropped following expert testimony in a preliminary hearing.
Alexander Reed, 25, of Ozark, was initially charged with second-degree murder, armed criminal action and fleeing the scene of an accident following an investigation by the Missouri State Highway Patrol into the Dec. 30, 2016, wreck that resulted in the death of 33-year-old Cole Jones of Dixon.
On Dec. 20, 2019, Laclede County Judge Steve Jackson ruled that there was “no probable cause” for the second-degree murder and armed criminal action charges. He ruled that the two charges be dismissed.
