Nancy Lynn Hoffman Roper, 75, of Columbia, formerly of Lebanon, passed away in her home Wednesday, June 21, 2023, surrounded by her loving family. She was born Nov. 27, 1947, to Walter Hoffman and Doris DeYoung Hoffman in San Diego, Calif.

Nancy grew up in San Diego, Calif. and was a graduate of Mount Miguel High School where she was a cheerleader and homecoming princess. She was also selected as a San Diego Chargette Cheerleader and would perform during home games. She attended Grossmont Junior College where she achieved her degree in Business Management. After graduation Nancy worked for the Grossmont School District in San Diego. She married Ben Martin, with whom they share a daughter, Julie that she adored and equally adored her. They were inseparable and many would say two peas in a pod. There was nothing they didn’t enjoy doing together.

Upon moving to Missouri, she went to work for Play-Craft Boat Company and later for Appleby Boats, then Lowe Boats in Lebanon. She met and married Robert “Bob” Faulkner and together they established Sundancer Pontoons. After her husband passed away, Nancy would become the President and CEO of the company and continued to operate the business. She served in this position for several years until her retirement.

On Jan. 6, 2007, Nancy was united in marriage to Scott L. Roper. During their marriage they enjoyed concerts, sporting events, traveling, and spending quality time with family and friends. During the later stages of Nancy’s illness, Scott became her constant companion and caregiver. Through their darkest days they always seemed to find laughter and a silver lining.

She was preceded in death by her dad, Walter Hoffman in a military plane crash when Nancy was 4 ½ years old, and her mother, Doris DeYoung Jaeschke; her step-dad, Edward Jaeschke, and her former husband, Robert Faulkner.

Nancy is survived by her husband, Scott Roper of the home; her daughter, Julie Hendrix and her husband, Kent and grandson Luke Hendrix, of Columbia; her step-son, Stephen Roper of Kansas City; her brother, Rick Hoffman of Garberville, Calif., as well as nieces and nephews.

Nancy’s life revolved around her family, her friends, and her faith. She was a member of the First Christian Church in Lebanon where she served as a deacon and board member.

She loved her pets and they were a very vital part of her life. She also enjoyed doing activities with her close group of friends. Nancy enjoyed playing tennis, golf, water aerobics and yoga. Nancy loved attending Lebanon High School football and basketball events and was an avid Kansas City Chiefs fan. She was very active in the community and was a member of the Rotary Club, PEO and the Philea Club.

Nancy loved her family and was the absolute best wife, mother, grandmother and sister. She adored her grandson Luke and loved spending time with him as often as she possibly could. Becoming “Grancy” was one of her favorite roles, he was the light of her life. As an avid music lover, she was particularly passionate about Stephen’s musical talent as well as his professional career. They immediately connected and he lovingly referred to her as his “Leba-mom”. Her son-in-law Kent also had a special place in her heart. Their relationship was full of laughter and teasing, he always put a smile on her face. There was never a dull moment between the two, which was often topped off by the constant exchange of gag gifts. He thought of her as his second mom and would have done anything for her. Nancy enjoyed life to the fullest each and every day. She was the light of her family and was a great source of inspiration, strength and love.

Nancy forever saw herself as a California Girl. This could often be seen in her love for palm trees and all things tropical. She loved the warm weather, sunshine, seashells and sandy beaches. She will always be our sunshine!
