Nearly 9K raised to replace flag

Posted

Laclede County’s Old Glory Fund raised $8,843 to replace the vandalized large American flag for the courthouse.
Two new flags were purchased and the more than $4,000 remaining was presented to the Lebanon Veterans Memorial Fund Friday at the courthouse.
The flag fund was established last summer after someone attempted to burn the flag draped over the front of the Laclede County Government Center in honor of Independence Day.
The money raised was used to replace the damaged flag and set up a reward to find the perpetrator.
Laclede County Western District Commissioner Darrell Pollock said the fund is temporarily on hold, but would remain open to receive reward money if there is an arrest and conviction.
