New bakery in town

Mick Jagears can't bake this stuff up, or can he?

If you're looking for a variety of breads and bakery items, candles, freeze-dried candies, specialty cookies and mystery books, Jagears Bread Shop & Bakery Co. might be the stop to make. In February, Mick Jagears, pronounced Jaygers, is 26 and a 2016 LHS graduate, began renting and remodeling the little store at 702 S. Monroe St. before his Aug. 1 soft opening. It took those six months for Jagears to get the space up to his preferred specs. “There was blue carpet and no walls in here. Everything that has been done in here, I did. It’s been really great,” Jagears said. During those six months plus January, he operated the bakery from his home, baking by day to fill orders and renovating by evening to create his space. Variety is a selling point at Jagears Bread Shop & Bakery Co. For more on this story, see the LCR.
