Nuisance code crackdown

Posted

Thanks to an enhanced nuisance code and its enforcement, the city of Lebanon is looking better.
More lawns and yards are being mowed and kept free of junk. Consequently, neighborhoods are improving.
The city’s nuisance code has a simple goal.
“It’s just trying to get the folks to do it, mow the grass, pick up their junk, haul the trash off, spruce up their house and just make a better community for everybody,” said Code Administrator Joe Berkich.
He reported that he and his staff have sent 559 nuisance letters from Jan. 1 to Sept. 23. For the last five years prior to 2019, nuisance letters averaged 220 per year.
