Posted

Paul “Dean” Smith, 60, of Phillipsburg passed away Wednesday, June 21, 2023, in his home in Phillipsburg. He was born Sept. 11, 1962 in Albuquerque, N.M. to Homer Paul Smith and Elizabeth Gibson.

Dean grew up as a “Military Brat” and lived many different places. He was the oldest of the four children, and he was said to have been very much the boss. He liked being in charge and depended on and fulfilled that role nicely. He was very mechanical and worked on corporate jets for Raytheon Technologies.

In his later years, Dean cared for his parents in their home until their passing. He was also preceded in death by his aunt, Lela Donigan.

Dean is survived by his sister, Connie Burns of Phillipsburg; two brothers, Donnie Smith and his wife, Beth and Robert Smith and his wife, Cathy, all of Phillipsburg; his nieces and nephews, Kenny, Jessica, Sarah, Lynsey, Allison, Greyson, Logan, Leah and Luke; and his aunt, Donna Gibson of Albuquerque, N.M; his lifelong friends, George, Eric, Travis and Gary; and several cousins.

Dean loved attending events that his nieces and nephews were involved in. He would do anything for his family. He loved them very much and they were very dear to him.

In his spare time, Dean enjoyed playing video games, making knives and made jewelry.

He was a wonderful son, loving brother and fun uncle. His friends and family will treasure the many fond memories they made with him.

Funeral services were held Sunday, June 25, 2023, at the Mount Rose Chapel Mausoleum in Lebanon with Dr. Timothy Howe officiating. A memorial to the Vietnam Veterans has been established and donations may be left at the funeral home.

Arrangements are under the direction of Holman-Howe Funeral Home of Lebanon.
