R-3 considers future of old junior high

Posted

The Lebanon R-3 School District presented options for the former junior high school buildings in a presentation at the central school district office Tuesday night.
Assistant Superintendent Dr. Brad Armstrong said the reason for Tuesday’s meeting was feedback  from parent and community advisory groups that the buildings should be removed.
“Before we go to that next step, we wanted to take this opportunity to allow the entire community to have input as well and offer suggestions and ideas,” he said.
Armstrong said the cost of needed renovations has been an obstacle to finding a new use for the Wallace and Rainey buildings, which are on the old junior high campus at 500 North Adams.
The buildings were replaced by the construction of the current middle school. The district plans to keep and maintain the field house at the site for sporting events and practices.
