R-3 holding unofficial spring season over summer

Posted
COVID-19 may have ruined spring sports for the class of 2020, but Lebanon R-3 is doing everything it can to let those graduating athletes have one last season on the field. Due to a change in regulations from the Missouri State High School Activities Association, seniors will be able to play this summer despite having graduated, allowing them to play a short, unofficial season. “The driving force behind all this is we’re wanting to provide some closure opportunities for our seniors,” said Lebanon R-3 Activities Director Will Christian. He added that throughout the summer every spring sport will be holding competitions - some of them against their own teammates and some against other area schools. The coaches of each sport are scheduling their own competitions. The first sport to come back this summer was baseball. The Lebanon Baseball team is playing an inter-squad “world series” throughout June and part of July. For complete schedules of games and events being held over the summer, please contact the Lebanon R-3's Activities Director's office at 417-657-6006 EXT. 6015 or contact any head coach for specific's on their sport.
