SELMA SUE REESE

Selma Sue Reese, 87, of Bowling Green, passed away from a stroke on Saturday, May 20, 2023 at Country View Nursing Facility with her two daughters by her side.

Selma was born in rural Bowling Green to Melvin Jewell Reese and Anna Blaine Gillum on Feb. 18, 1936.

She graduated from BGHS in 1956. She worked at Bobbie Brooks factory in Bowling Green. She married Lloyd Grote on June 29, 1957. They resided in Bowling Green. He passed March 14, 2000. And then John Hall of White Hull, Illinois was her companion and they moved to Louisville, Mo. He preceded her in death Sept, 2017.

She was a member of the Louisville Christian Church. During her life time she enjoyed being a seamstress and made clothes for women, gardening, planting and tending flowers, basketmaking, embroidery, making rag rugs and placemats to sell at local craft shows.

She is survived by her two daughters, Debbie Schaffer (Bert) of Lebanon and Kathy Miller (Ronnie) of Frankford, MO; grandchildren, Quentin Miller, Kirstie Worley (Cody), Ben Miller, Jessie Cleeton, Scott Miller (Jordyn) and Ryan an Beth Miller and Candace Pardee (Anthony); great-grandchildren: Reese King, Wes Hoots, Harley an Riley Hoots, and several step grandkids; sister, Margaret Ann Talbert of Bowling Green; and many nieces and nephews.

Selma was preceded in death by one brother, Donald Jewell Reese; and one sister Emma Ruth Myers.

Graveside services on May 24th at 2 p.m. at Louisville Cemetery on Route Z in Bowling Green, with a gathering at Larry Edmiston Lodge, 3620 Hwy Z in Louisville for refreshments afterwards.
