WALTON DARREL COOK

Walton Darrel Cook, 71, of Lebanon, died Wednesday, April 8, 2020, in Lebanon.

He was born Aug. 30, 1948, in St. Louis, Mo. to James R. and Virginia K. Bower Cook.

On Feb. 28, 1970 he married Rene Ochs and they recently celebrated their 50th Wedding Anniversary.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Alvin Clarence Cook.

Darrel attended school in House Springs, Mo. He served his country proudly in the United States Army for 30 years until his retirement and honorable discharge. While serving, he received many decorations, medals, badges and awards. He continued his education and received a Master’s Degree in Social Work from Southwest Missouri State (now Missouri State University) specializing in the medical field in dialysis.

He was a devoted Christian and was a faithful member of Lebanon First Assembly of God.

Survivors include his wife Rene; one son, Robert Darrel Cook of Melbourne, Fla.; one brother, Fred Cook and his wife Cindy of St. Robert; three sisters, Sandra Medlock and Virginia Tanner, both of Eldon, and Vickie Greenwell and her husband Carl of Festus; several nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.

Private burial for Walton Darrel Cook will be held at the Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Waynesville, with military rites conducted at a later date under the direction of Shadel’s Colonial Chapel of Lebanon. Friends may call at the chapel at their convenience beginning Tuesday, April 14, 2020. Under the guidelines of the state of Missouri, the staff of Shadel’s Colonial Chapel can only allow ten people at a time to gather. Those guidelines will be monitored during this time to accommodate the family and their wishes.
