Posted

On Tuesday afternoon at Ballparks National in Macks Creek, the Camdenton Lakers came back from an early deficit to pull away with an 18-7 win in five innings over the Lebanon Yellowjackets.

Lebanon hopped out to a 3-0 lead in the top of the first inning when McKinley Rodden and Taylor Rodden singled home runs before Peyton Jewell had a bunt and reached via error to allow a run to run score.

The Lady Lakers responded with 11 runs in the bottom of the first inning. Singles by Jocelyn Wolf, Ryah Moore, and Baylee Randolph helped pull ahead with a 4-3 lead.

A bases-loaded walk, RBI single from VanSaude, and a two-run double from Zoe Lockhart kept the rally going as sophomore pitcher Kamryn Luthy was tagged for 15 hits in four innings.

VanSaude led the way for Camdenton in the circle, pitching five innings and allowing seven runs on ten hits while striking out seven LHS hitters.

For Lebanon, both senior Katie Schneider and Brooklyn O’Cain saw balls travel over the fence. O’Cain had a solo shot in the third inning while Schneider hit a two-run home run over the left field fence in the fourth inning, scoring Raegan McCowan to cut the lead to 17-7.

In the bottom half of the fourth, Moore singled on a grounder up the middle to take the 18-7 lead, putting the mercy rule into effect.
