One of Laclede County’s own has entered the weightlifting world stage.
Sing won sixth place out of 12 competitors in the International Weightlifting Federation’s Youth World Championships last Friday, scoring a combined total of 277 and scoring 124 in snatch and clean & jerk respectively in the 73 kg (160.9 lbs.) category. The event was held in Lima, Peru.
Trainer Tim Cole said that weightlifters must achieve a qualifying total score at a national competition to compete in the World Championships. Sing had made the qualifying total in December.
