City Council approves agreements, pay raises

Posted
The Lebanon City Council Monday night approved union agreements with the city’s firefighters, police and electric employees setting 8 percent pay raises. City Administrator Michael Schumacher said the collective bargaining agreement with firefighters had expired. The new agreement adds an extended probationary period of 18 month with an option for an additional six months for firefighters hired without certifications. The Council approved agreements with the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, the International Association of Firefighters, Local 2921, and the International Union of Police Local 7. The agreements run through June 30, 2025. In other business, the Council also approved a bill that changes the city code on utility rates. The city Board of Public Works was formed last year to oversee city utilities. The board adopted current utility schedules last month. The new ordinance removes the schedule from city codes to eliminate duplication with the City Council. For more on this story see Wednesday's LCR.
