Community leader Dan True passes away

Longtime Lebanon businessman and community leader Daniel Walter “Dan’’ True died Friday. He was 86.
Since 1978, he has had a hand in more than 40 buildings downtown and built over a milion square feet in Lebanon.
He was born Feb. 23, 1939, in St. Louis and graduated from high school in Montgomery County. Following graduation, he briefly served in the United States Army. In 1961 he graduated from Missouri School of Mines and Metallurgy in Rolla, with a B.S. Degree in Civil Engineering. True soon came to Lebanon as a Project Engineer for the Missouri Highway Department. His first project was changing North Highway 5 from a two-lane, tree covered highway to four lanes.
On Aug. 22, 1969, he married Beverly Joan Calvin, and together, they raised a family of five children.
