The Laclede County Commission declared April Child Abuse Prevention Month during Tuesday’s meeting among other agenda items.
The declaration was part of a larger docket which included the transfer of a Humvee to the Lebanon Parks Department to be installed in the Veterans Memorial Park, an update on the vacant Road and Bridge foreman position, and a report from State Senator Justin Brown’s field representative.
The nonprofit Live 2 Give Hope, one of whose focuses is child welfare, was present for the commission’s declaration, with President Sarah Angst and Program Director and board member Laura Gartin receiving a copy of the declaration on the organization’s behalf.
The commission also gave its approval to Angst’s draft of a job description for the vacant Road and Bridge foreman position, with Angst planning to promote that vacancy soon. The commission terminated an undisclosed Road and Bridge employee in March 18’s closed session, with the commission later discussing the foreman vacancy.
Later, the commission also discussed Better Roads, an internal system for tracking road maintenance. County Clerk Linda Cansler added that constituents can find a list of maintained roads on the county’s Road and Bridge website.
