County Commission discusses state of roads, senior tax freeze

Posted
The Laclede County Commission discussed the state of several roads as well as senior tax freeze applications before an early recess Tuesday morning. The commission planned to tour the county’s warehouse to take inventory and also walk through the annex following the meeting. Presiding Commissioner Angst said that the warehouse tour was to better plan for the future of the items inside the property. The annex walkthrough, he added, was also to formulate what use the former MU Extension office space might have for the county. He also encouraged the commission to attend the Transportation Advisory Committee meeting later that afternoon at the Cowan Civic Center. He explained that the meeting is run by the Lake of the Ozarks Council of Governments and will have representatives from three other counties and stakeholders on unfunded needs. In general county business, Western Commissioner Joe Wasmer reported that from his drive of roads suggested by citizen phone calls, he wished to plan repairs for spots including Georgetown Road. He wished to use creek rock but agreed to further research the necessary considerations before moving forward. Wasmer also reported that the Laclede County Fair Board plans to move their remaining items out of their office in the annex this Saturday. Angst added that that they should be moved out by Feb. 15.
