The Doo-Wah Riders will perform at 7 p.m March 1 in the Cowan Civic Center.
This is the third of five performances hosted by the Lebanon Concert Association for the 2024-2025 season.
The group’s website describes them as “a premier high-energy country group with a Cajun twist. The group showcases outstanding musicianship, featuring keyboard, accordion, harmonica, fiddle, bass, drums and guitar. They have been performing together for 40 years and are considered ‘a premiere act’ in more ways than one.”
The act’s beginnings go back to one night when, after playing music at a friend's house, Kenny Lee Benson and Lindy Rasmussen stood in the parking lot and talked about country music until the wee hours of the morning. “They found that they had a mutual passion for Bob Wills, Asleep at the Wheel, Guy Clark and, of course, Emmylou Harris, and decided to put a band together just for "laughs,” the website said. “The Doo-Wah Riders are still going strong and enjoying the ‘laughs.’”
They have been based in Southern California for more than 40 years and have been featured in the movie “Basic Instinct,”
Their concerts include songs such as “Ghost Riders in the Sky,” “The Devil Went Down to Georgia” and “The Orange Blossom Special.”
The LCA thanked its sponsors who help bring acts to this area. Sponsors for this concert are Kent Ford Insurance, Hogan Land And Title, Deputy & Mizell LLC and Mercy Health.
Two concerts for the season remain after this performance. Italian guitarist Paola Schianchi on April 7 and acapella group, Street Corner Symphony on May 21.
