Earnest Dean Barnes, 78, of Roby, died Tuesday, March 1, 2022, in Houston, Mo.

He was born Aug. 13, 1943, at Embree, Mo. to Ray Barnes and Elva Lee (Strong) Barnes.

Dean was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, aunts and uncles, two brothers, Darrell and David.

He moved to Kansas City in 1964 and went to work for Apco Service Station pumping gas. He went on to be a manager at Wild Woodys for 20 years before going on to Community Wholesale Tire where he was an over the road truck driver for 20 years before retiring in 2006. Dean moved back to Roby after retirement.

Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Wanda Fay (Earp) Barnes; two daughters, Sandra Denise Flanery (Dennis) of Liberty and Dana Annette Dale (Jimmy) of Mountain Grove; six grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, and cousins; a brother, Rodney (Angie) Barnes of Manes, and a close friend, Steve Crocker.

Funeral services for Earnest Dean Barnes will be held at 11a.m. Friday, March 4, 2022, at the Evans Funeral Home in Houston.

Burial will be in Embree-Dutch Chapel Cemetery near Lynchburg. Visitation will be 10-11 a.m. Friday in the funeral home.
