Ryne Emerick has found a scientific formula that works well at Lebanon High School.
Through the LHS Research Lab, he has given his students the opportunity to fully immerse themselves in their research and enjoy the research process rather than experience the chapter by chapter slog through a textbook that is typical of science classes.
"At Lebanon we have such smart kids, so giving them the time and the space to excel is the key. I really don't factor into the equation that much besides from giving them the time and the space," Emerick said.
And while the formula works, it is one that still holds surprises for Emerick.
"This is one of those types of classes that you don't really know what it's going to look like until you start getting the products from the kids. They almost universally far exceed your expectations," Emerick said.
