Fire destroys historic Downtown landmark

Posted
Fire destroyed a historic Downtown Lebanon building Sunday night. The Allen Building, former home of an H.D. Lee clothing plant was a total loss, according to a City of Lebanon press release. Commercial Street from Jefferson Avenue to Washington Avenue was closed for most of the day Monday while crews cleaned up the scene. The city said that the building was a total loss and the damage prompted immediate demolition on Monday due to structural instability and safety concerns. The fire was first reported just after 9:30 p.m. Sunday. For more on this story, see Wednesday's LCR.
