Home is where the heart is

Offering help for Lebanon's homeless people

Posted
Home is where the heart is. If you lose your home, you get reminded it is also where the heat is, where the food is, where the shower is, where all your things are. Most importantly, it is where hope lived very comfortably and dignity had its own room. Time for counting your blessings is used up by counting your unmet needs and wondering how they will be met when you are homeless, probably jobless and nearly hopeless. Worse, homelessness is a problem with no easy solution. First month's rent, last month's rent and a deposit on an apartment or duplex are hard to come by for a single person even with a job or for a single-income family, let alone a jobless person. Some Lebanon folks met to extend a helping hand to the homeless. About 20 of Lebanon's agencies and support groups and volunteers gathered at the Mills Center on Thursday, Jan. 26, for Project Homeless Outreach to make finding a place to live or living better until one can be found a little bit easier.
