Hughes Senior Center celebrates national nutrition month

Posted
The Hughes Senior Center is celebrating national nutrition month with speakers, presentations, activities and of course, delicious, healthy food. Speakers for the event are in the works and Kassidy Kreuer, the administrator of the center, says she is working on getting a licensed dietician to come talk to the seniors. The dates for the events are being finalized and will be posted on the centers Facebook page “Hughes Senior Center”. Kreuer goes on to say, “Nutrition is especially important for older adults. It can affect energy levels, heart health and much more. We want to make sure our seniors are getting balanced meals. Our meals always include a protein, vegetable and fruit.” The center serves meals that anyone can come to Monday through Friday from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Citizens of any age can come for a healthy lunch. People under the age of 60 pay $7 for lunch while seniors above the age of 60 have a suggested price of $5.
