ILA MAE WOODS-THREET

Ila Mae Woods-Threet, 94, of Lebanon, died Wednesday, Dec. 8, 2021, at Mercy Hospital in Joplin.

She was born Nov. 15, 1927, at home in Chambersburg, Mo. to Beatrice and Forest Kerr.

On March 23, 1947, she married Charley “Pearl” Woods and they enjoyed 59 years together until his passing July 9, 2006. Later, she married Ervin Threet and they enjoyed 10 years of marriage together.

She is preceded in death by her parents; both husbands; three brothers, Hollis, Hillis, and Stuart Kerr and Mike Marsden her son-in-law.

Ila grew up in northeast Missouri, where she enjoyed family, singing, and helping her father on the farm. She liked being outside and left helping with household chores to her sister Patty. Both girls loved singing together and learned to harmonize with each other. They would sing at church and local events. They would grow up to sing together at the local musical how, The Jamboree. Ila attended attended Culver-Stockton College in Canton, Mo. She became a teacher of a little country school grades 1-8. She and her husband Charley Pearl Woods lived in Kahoka and purchased Bruce 88, which was a gas station and restaurant. They sold the business and then moved to Fort Madison, Iowa, where Ila worked at Sheaffer Pen Co. and for a local dentist. After seven years they moved to Donnellson, Iowa where they purchased the motel. They had multiple businesses in Donnellson. Eventually they settled in Lebanon where her daughter Sherri lived. Eventually they took over the Oak Hill Campground out on Missouri 64. After several years they retired again and settled in Lebanon. After Pearl’s passing Ila met Erv Threet in Texas and they were soon married. This past years Ila enjoyed living at Cedarhurst in Lebanon.

Survivors include her sister, Patty Woods of Kahoka, Mo.; her three daughters, Janice White of Lebanon; Judy Marsden of Dallas City, Ill., and Sherri Robinson and her husband, Jess Robinson of Lebanon; six grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.

A funeral service for Ila Mae Woods-Threet will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 19, 2021, at the First Congregational Church in Lebanon.
